Electrolux Thailand brought together more than 40 employee volunteers for “Electrolux Thailand Food Heroes 2026,” engaging 100 primary school students at Wat Uthaitharam School in Bangkok in activities exploring the connections between food, health and the environment.

Marking World Food Day Week, the program encouraged children to adopt more sustainable eating and cooking habits by reducing food waste, eating more nutritious plant-based foods and sharing what they learned with their families and communities. The initiative addresses a pressing global challenge: according to the United Nations Environment Programme’s (UNEP) Food Waste Index Report 2024, households worldwide wasted the equivalent of more than one billion meals a day in 2022.

The Electrolux Food Foundation launched Food Heroes to help children worldwide understand the value of food, recognizing that early food education can inspire positive habits in communities. The program has now reached more than 400,000 children in over 40 countries. In Thailand, the initiative marks its third year in 2026.

The educational workshop began with a food journey, tracing food from farms through transportation, shopping, home cooking and consumption to the management of food waste. Children explored how every meal depends on resources such as land, water and energy before learning practical ways to become a Food Hero in everyday life. Electrolux employee volunteers guided the session and led a simple, enjoyable mini cooking class to bring the lessons to life.
This year’s hands-on activity was a fruit smoothie workshop, where children selected their favorite fruits to create their own healthy drinks. Employee volunteers provided close guidance and helped prepare the smoothies for the children to enjoy. Participants then received “I Am Food Hero” certificates from Electrolux in recognition of their commitment to setting a positive example.

Bernard Chong, Head of Region Asia Pacific, Electrolux Group, said: “We believe lasting change starts with helping children understand and appreciate the value of food from an early age. Food Heroes is more than a learning activity for children. It is also a way to bring ideas and inspiration from schools into families and communities. We are proud to help young people in Thailand grow into citizens who understand the impact of their everyday eating and cooking choices and can contribute to a more sustainable future for society and the environment.”
