\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 ICONSIAM,<\/strong>\u00a0The Icon of Eternal Prosperity and the global landmark on the bank of Chao Phraya River, has collaborated with\u00a0The ICONSIAM Residence Corporation Limited<\/strong>,\u00a0The ICONSIAM Superlux Residence Corporation Limited<\/strong>, and entrepreneur partners along the banks of Chao Phraya River to create a phenomenon of joy during the year-end season.\u00a0<\/strong>To celebrate the 2nd<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of ICONSIAM in splendid style and to celebrate the upcoming Christmas and New Year festivals, the extravagant illumination event\u00a0\u201cBangkok Illumination 2020 at ICONSIAM\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>will also be held from\u00a0November 5 to December 30, 2020 at ICONSIAM on Charoen Nakhon Road<\/strong>. The large space of the riverside River Park will be transformed into a captivating land lit up with dazzling lighting and the longest line of illuminated Christmas trees on the bank of Chao Phraya River.\u00a0The official opening will be held on November 5, 2020 at 5.30pm at the River Park on G floor and will be presided over by\u00a0Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn<\/strong>, the minister of Tourism and Sports. The special performance \u201cThe Magical Lighting Parade\u201d led by top actress\u00a0Kimberley Anne Woltemas<\/strong>\u00a0will mark the opening, followed by mini-concert of the heartthrobs\u00a0Mew Suppasit\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Gulf Kanawut<\/strong>\u00a0who will make your night memorable.<\/p>\n

The Christmas Tress represents the unique of Thai-ness with universal patterns from the creation of the world\u2019s famous graphic designer Mike Perry<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The first collaboration of\u00a0\u201cMike Perry\u201d<\/strong>, an Emmy winning artist in 2018 (animation), for ICONSIAM is to design two remarkable patterns for Christmas trees and floating Yi Peng lanterns by representing the unique characteristic of Thai-ness and the universal aspects into one. The patterns are inspired by the distinctive religious architectures of\u00a0\u201cThai temples\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0whose main hall\u2019s walls as well as the pillars inside Ubosot and Mondop are exquisitely jeweled with colored glass mosaics. Mike Perry thus reinterprets the notable decoration of Buddhist temples into two colorful and contemporary graphic patterns. Influenced by the Thai traditional motif called Kra Jung Bai Thed, the colorful pattern called\u00a0\u201cEnergy Flows<\/strong>\u201d is designed in flower-like square shape with four flower petals branching out. The center of the image is in circle form whose four directions are adorned with the motif Kra Jung Bai Thed. This traditional motif is normally used to decorate the pillars and the frames of windows and doors of Vihara and pavilions as well as stupas. The central Kra Jung in the pattern represents the center of creative energy that spreads out to the universe.<\/p>\n

The other pattern called\u00a0\u201cCelebration of Life\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0is specially designed to decorate the Christmas trees. The artist blends the traditional Thai diamond-shaped, colored glass mosaics in Buddhist monasteries with the powerful and joyful lines that evokes the atmospheres during the sunrise and the sunset. The illuminated\u00a020-metre-tall Christmas trees<\/strong>\u00a0will stand remarkably on the bank of Chao Phraya River.\u00a0Mike Perry<\/strong>\u00a0also uses his\u00a0Energy Flows<\/strong>\u00a0pattern that is the reinterpretation of Thai traditional motif Kra Jung Bai Thed to decorate \u201cYi Peng lantern\u201d<\/strong>, a symbol of traditional cultures of the Northern Thailand. The aim is to combine the contemporary design created by the foreign designer with the fine handicrafts and the body of knowledge of Thai Northern communities that should be preserved for the value of local wisdom and extended for the next generation to produce contemporary works in local and the world\u2019s stages.<\/p>\n

First time in Thailand for the World Class Installation Art featuring a sculpture of multimedia light chambers \u201cInfinity Forest\u201d and two gigantic illuminated figures \u201cFantastic Planet\u201d<\/u><\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It is\u00a0the first time in Thailand<\/strong>\u00a0to showcase the\u00a0World Class Installation Art<\/strong>\u00a0featuring the captivating sculpture of interactive light chambers titled\u00a0\u201cInfinity Forest\u201d created by New York-based design studio\u00a0\u201cSOFTlab\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0at Napalai Terrace on the 7th<\/sup>\u00a0floor of ICONSIAM<\/strong>\u00a0to give an infinite field of light at night.<\/p>\n

The studio\u2019s new work\u00a0\u201cInfinity Forest\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0certainly captivates the interests of Bangkok visitors and becomes a hot photo spot.\u00a0Michael Szivos<\/strong>, the founder of\u00a0SOFTlab<\/strong>, says that visitors can expect to see a filed of mirrored chambers arranged in a forest-like atmosphere that allows visitors to see the reflections of the surroundings from Bangkok skyline, the river to themselves. When visitors approach inside the sculpture, they will become a part of the work through the reflection of themselves on the mirrors in different directions and angles. They can have fun to capture the shifting reflections of image within an image that is called the Droste Effect. This effect is known in art as the effect of a picture recursively appearing within itself, in a place where a similar picture would realistically be expected to appear, creating an ever-changing infinite reflection. At night the mirrored chambers are lit with LEDs that respond to sound, producing continuous flow of reflection. The light field is a subtle wave that is evocative of Chao Phraya River in front of the terrace, giving the astonishing view of the most beautiful curve of the historical river.<\/p>\n

Be amazed with the fascinating illuminated figure project\u00a0\u201cFantastic Planet\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0featuring two\u00a0Giant Illuminated Humanoid Figures<\/strong>\u00a0titled\u00a0\u201cPepping Corners\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0\u201cWhat\u2019s that\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0that are seven meters in height and will be showcased for\u00a0the first time in Thailand<\/strong>\u00a0on the riverside River Park.<\/p>\n

The light installation\u00a0\u201cFantastic Planet\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0is the amazing creation of Australian visual artist\u00a0Amanda Parer<\/strong>\u00a0whose inspiration comes from the 1973 Czech\/ French film Fantastic Planet, a stop motion science fiction film directed by Ren\u00e9 Laloux that depicted a world of gargantuan humanoids in distant future. These two gigantic illuminated figures will land at\u00a0River Park of ICONSIAM from November 5 to December 25, 2020<\/strong>\u00a0to take picture with little human beings.<\/p>\n
