(\u201cNovo Nordisk\u201d)<\/strong> reaffirms its unwavering commitment to patient safety and medicine quality following recent reports of counterfeit GLP-1 medicines being prescribed under the trademark NOVOTRIMPLUS+ at a medical facility. The product is not legally registered in Thailand and has caused a serious adverse reaction in a patient who used it. By incorporating part of the Novo Nordisk name in its branding, the product has created confusion among the public, falsely implying that it is owned by Novo Nordisk.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/asiaconnext.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Health-1.webp\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Novo Nordisk assures the public that patient safety remains the company&#8217;s highest priority. To help safeguard patients, Novo Nordisk has proactively implemented <strong>eZTracker<\/strong>, a blockchain-enabled digital traceability system that allows healthcare professionals, patients and caregivers to verify the authenticity of the company&#8217;s once-weekly injectable GLP-1 medicines \u2014 Ozempic\u00ae for type 2 diabetes and Wegovy\u00ae for obesity \u2014 across the supply chain in Thailand. The system uses a unique 2D data matrix sticker to make every pack individually identifiable and traceable, helping to prevent counterfeit medicines from reaching patients and strengthening product safety for people living with serious chronic diseases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The use of counterfeit products can expose patients to substandard, contaminated or harmful substances, potentially leading to serious adverse effects.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cihan Serdar Kizilcik, General Manager of Novo Nordisk Pharma (Thailand) Ltd.<\/strong>, said: &#8220;Patient safety is at the core of everything we do at Novo Nordisk. We are deeply concerned about the risks counterfeit medicines pose to patients, and we fully support the efforts of Thai authorities, including the Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA), to address this serious issue. As part of our ongoing commitment to protecting patients, we implemented the eZTracker system in 2025, enabling real-time verification of the authenticity of our once-weekly injectable GLP-1 medicines. Patients can verify a product by scanning the 2D data matrix sticker on the box or by entering the product code in the eZTracker app. A successful check will confirm that the product is genuine and display detailed product information; if verification fails, the item is likely to be counterfeit.
