An excellent opportunity for art aficionados and collectors to delve into the world of exceptional artworks and the history of art

Art enthusiasts and collectors, it’s time to come together once again and participate in the special event “MUSEUM MANIA.” This event is set to take place on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at River City Bangkok. This historic exhibition is a collaborative effort between The Art Auction Center and RSF Art Clinic (Restaurateurs Sans Frontières Art Clinic). Get ready to explore the history of modern Thai art at MUSEUM MANIA, the expert in preserving and protecting renowned and internationally recognized artworks, with over 40 years of experience.

The MUSEUM MANIA auction exhibition is organized under the concept of showcasing museum-level valuable works that have played a significant role in the Thai art world throughout different eras. You can participate in the auction to become the owner of these invaluable artworks. The exhibition weaves together the stories of two centuries of modern Thai art history, divided into five eras, starting from the foundations of civilized Siam during the reign of King Rama V to the present day. Thai art has evolved through diversity, globalization, and the digital age.

Asst. Prof. Vichaya Mukdamanee,Ph.D, Dean of the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Arts at Silpakorn University, has joined the organizers in crafting the narrative of the exhibition and its artworks.

“Museums in Thailand, in my belief, were established with the goal of developing the country into a civilization akin to European nations. Initially, museums may not have been open to the public but instead housed collections of works by the country’s elite. Those who first appreciated the existence of museums were individuals who had an affinity for this type of knowledge and often engaged in conversations with foreigners. However, as awareness of this matter has grown within society, the emergence of museums as channels for the general public to acquire knowledge has expanded,” said Asst. Prof. Vichaya.

The exhibition features outstanding artworks from prominent artists, including Galileo Kini, Carlo Rigoli, Silpa Bhirasri (Corrado Feroci), Raden Basuki Abdullah, Chang Sae-tang, Pratuang Emjaroen, Khien Yimsiri, Angkarn Kallayanapong, Thawan Duchanee, Chakraband Posayakrit, Itthiphon Tangchalok, Preecha Thaothong, Sakwut Wisesmanee, Udom Taephanich, Alex Face- Patcharaphol Tangruen, Molly – Nisa Srikhamdee, and Kitti Narod, among others.

More than 130 artworks will be available for auction. These artworks not only possess aesthetic value but also offer insights into the broader perspective of art’s value for the art market, collectors, and the general public.
